  • JW – Balancing “bad cop” duties

    • MT – This framing isn’t quite right. I think that, if we want to make good products, we don’t need to play good cop/bad cop, we should just take the suggestions that are good. But if people ask open-ended questions that are basically requests for their super-specific use cases we should not spend so much time on that. For example I’ve recently been able to focus on writing code by not getting bogged down in this sort of thing.

    • MT – Right now I’m closing Toolkit issues that we probably won’t resolve in the span of a year or two. A lot of them are issues with 0 comments that are going nowhere. But for the other we either need to commit to doing them or not doing them. I’ve also done this with an eye for “issues that could become discussions” and haven’t identified many. I’m very interested in having the number of open issues go down, and this is something that you’ve said before too.
