General updates

Karmen Condic-Jurkic

  • Good feedback on benchmarking, blog posts, etc. (thumbs up) 🎉

    • KCJ – KMeier and CSchindler have made comments about positive experience with benchmarking and blog posts

    • DM – Agree, I’ve really enjoyed the blog posts, and it’s a good way to keep internal and external people up to date.

  • KCJ – Confluence is a bit overgrown, I’m consumed with OMSF startup and other duties. So we have an opening for a project manager to help with this.

  • KCJ – We have renewed with all industry partners for the coming year. We’ve gained a new partner, Redesign science, and we may get AstraZeneca as well. So things are looking good from the industry front.

  • KCJ – I’m looking into a quick way to turn blog posts into PDFs and attaching a DOI.

Infrastructure roadmap

Jeffrey Wagner

  • Recap: What is the roadmap? Why have a roadmap?

    • The roadmap is a way for…

      • external people to see what we’re doing

      • us to catch gaps in our overall plans

      • us to agree on priority/order for different goals

      • new personnel to identify major tasks that they could help with

      • developers and scientists to be accountable to each other

    • We have a roadmap because there are multiple sources of truth for what the org is doing:

      • Our heads - “Here’s what I’m doing today, here’s what I’m doing tomorrow”

      • What we’ve committed to do (“Biopolymers in 2022!”)

      • Our hiring/personnel plans (“Do we need more Matts or Simons?”)

  • Process for roadmap review

    • do a first pass of the roadmap to recognize completion of items that are "done" (purple rows in the confluence table)

    • collect newly proposed items

    • vote yea/nay on items proposed for addition or removal (green and red rows in the confluence table)

    • (re)assign priorities and personnel as appropriate

  • Infrastructure Roadmap 2022 (In progress)

Action items

  • Jeffrey Wagner get a quorum during the next leadership meeting about removing OpenFF-Toolkit’s hard dependency on OpenMM (migrate to pint/openff-units).
